Commonly known as the soft tree fern or Tasmanian tree fern, is a slow-growing, evergreen tree fern native to eastern Australia, including Tasmania and Victoria.
Description:
• Trunk: Thick, fibrous, and covered in dark brown, hairy material.
• Fronds: Large, arching, and bright green, reaching 2–4 meters (6–13 feet) in length. They emerge from a central crown.
• Growth Rate: Slow-growing
• Hardiness: One of the hardiest tree ferns, tolerating temperatures down to about -10°C (14°F) if well-protected.
• Soil & Water: Prefers moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Requires regular watering, especially in dry periods.
• Light: Grows best in partial to full shade but can tolerate some sun if kept moist.
• Watering the trunk helps maintain moisture and encourages healthy growth.
